Terms of Service
Last updated: 10 August 2026
These terms explain how Ascendra works, what you can expect from us, and what we ask of you when you use the service. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy and Refund & Cancellation Policy.
1. About Ascendra
Ascendra is an online learning and exam-preparation service, operated from the United Kingdom. It provides practice tests, explanations, study material, progress tracking and AI-assisted study features to help you prepare for certification examinations. Ascendra is an independent study aid and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or accredited by any certification body whose examinations you may be preparing for.
By creating an account or using Ascendra you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You need an account to use most of Ascendra. When you register you must provide accurate information and keep it up to date. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity that takes place under your account.
- Do not share your account or credentials with others.
- Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
- You must have the legal capacity to enter into these terms in your country of residence.
3. Free and paid services
Ascendra provides both free functionality and a paid subscription called Ascendra Pro. Features, usage allowances and limits — including allowances for AI-assisted features — may differ between the free and paid plans, and may change over time as the service develops. The plan comparison shown in the app at the time you subscribe describes what is currently included.
4. Ascendra Pro subscriptions
- Monthly subscription: £11.99 per month.
- Annual subscription: £119.00 per year.
- Subscriptions renew automatically for further billing periods until they are cancelled.
- Payment is collected using the payment method you provide through our payment processor, Stripe.
- If the price shown at checkout differs from the prices listed on this page, the price displayed at checkout applies to your purchase.
- Where we change our prices, we will tell you in advance of any change affecting your renewals to the extent required by law, and you may cancel before the change takes effect.
5. Upgrades and downgrades
Where the service supports it, you may change between billing options (for example from monthly to annual, or back again).
- Upgrading to a higher-priced billing option may result in an immediate charge, and credit may be given for paid time you have not yet used, where applicable.
- Downgrades may take effect at your next billing or renewal date rather than immediately.
- The amount payable and the date the change takes effect are shown to you before you confirm. That confirmation screen, and the receipt issued for the transaction, describe what actually applies to your change.
6. Cancellation
You can cancel Ascendra Pro at any time from your billing settings.
- Cancelling normally prevents the next renewal from being charged.
- Paid access ordinarily continues until the end of the billing period you have already paid for, after which your account reverts to the free plan.
- Cancelling does not by itself entitle you to a refund of amounts already paid.
- Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.
7. Refunds
Refunds are dealt with in our Refund & Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these terms.
8. UK consumer cancellation rights
If you are a consumer in the UK, you may have a statutory right to cancel a contract for digital services within 14 days of entering into it. Where you ask us to begin supplying the digital service immediately — for example by starting to use Ascendra Pro straight away — and you acknowledge that you will lose your right to cancel once the service has been fully supplied, your cancellation rights may be affected to the extent permitted by UK law. Where the service has only been partly supplied, any refund due may be reduced proportionately.
Nothing in these terms removes or limits your statutory rights, and we do not claim that every purchase is automatically exempt from the statutory cooling-off period.
9. Payment failures
If a payment fails or an amount remains outstanding, we may attempt the charge again and ask you to update your payment method. Following any applicable grace or retry period, Pro functionality may be restricted or removed until payment is successfully collected.
10. AI-generated content
Ascendra uses artificial intelligence to help provide features such as tutoring responses, study guides, practice question generation, explanations and study recommendations. You should be aware that:
- AI output can be incomplete, out of date or simply wrong;
- you should verify anything that matters against authoritative sources;
- AI features are educational assistance only. They are not professional, legal, medical or financial advice, and they are not a guarantee of any particular examination result.
Usage of AI features may be subject to fair-use allowances or quotas, which can differ by plan.
11. Acceptable use
When using Ascendra you must not:
- use the service for any unlawful purpose or in breach of applicable law;
- abuse, overload or disrupt the service or other users' use of it;
- attempt to circumvent usage quotas, entitlement checks, paywalls or other subscription controls;
- scrape, harvest or bulk-extract content, or use automated tools to abuse the service;
- interfere with the security of the service, probe or test its defences without permission, or attempt unauthorised access to accounts, systems or data;
- upload malware or engage in any other malicious activity.
You must also respect the rules of any certification body — for example, you must not upload or share live examination content obtained in breach of their terms.
12. Intellectual property
Ascendra, its software, branding, design and the original content we create (including question banks, explanations and study material) belong to us or our licensors. You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use them for your own study while your account is active. You may not resell, redistribute or publish our content without permission.
You keep any rights you already have in content you submit to Ascendra. By submitting it, you grant us a licence to host, process and display it as needed to operate the service and provide the features you have asked for.
13. Availability
We make reasonable efforts to keep Ascendra available and working properly, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability. Maintenance, updates, third-party outages and factors outside our control can all affect access.
14. Changes to the service
We may add, change or remove features as the service develops. Where a material change adversely affects paid subscribers, we will handle it reasonably and in accordance with applicable law, which may include giving notice or offering the ability to cancel.
15. Liability
We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so — this includes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and for your statutory rights as a consumer.
Subject to that, we are not liable for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable at the time you began using the service, nor for examination outcomes, loss of opportunity or other indirect losses arising from your use of Ascendra. Ascendra is a study aid; responsibility for your preparation and examination results remains with you.
16. Termination
We may suspend or terminate an account where there is a serious or repeated breach of these terms — for example unlawful activity, deliberate circumvention of subscription controls, abuse of the service, or conduct that puts other users or the service at risk. Where it is appropriate and practical to do so, we will contact you first. You can close your account at any time.
17. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK or in another country, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections available to you under the law of your place of residence.
